My group and I took an entire photoshoot in order to start planning how to edit our digipack.

Costume Ideas for Music Video

As stated in my music video pitch, there will only be three costume changes (one including a bathtub where KARMA will wear a black vest). I have made a moodboard of all the potential costume ideas for each location on pinterest.

Album Cover Poses

I will begin to start taking a photoshoot of Olivia as 'KARMA', but need to brainstorm on the different sorts of poses she will have to do. I want the album cover itself to be an extreme close up of the artist, especially as it is her debut album. This will make the album look bold and will highlight the stars physical appearance. Below are some ideas.

My favourite album covers are Rihanna's 'Loud' and Selena Gomez's 'Star Dance'. This is because both albums are so dynamic and stand out from the rest which are much more generic.

Branding - Makeup Ideas

For the continuation of branding our artist 'KARMA', her physical appearance is an essential key to success within the music video. As my group and I are essentially 'debuting' a new star, there will many different camera angles to accentuate her beauty (like Richard Dyers star theory). Here are some different makeup looks that Olivia - aka KARMA, could have in the music video.

LOCATION 1: BATHTUB

For this look, going neutral would be essential, especially as it will showcase her natural beauty. Olivia has already created a similar look to this below - (taken from Instagram) The bathtub scene connotes a sense of purification from her toxic relationship, so the look needs to be lightweight.

LOCATION 2: DARK ROOM/WAREHOUSE

This makeup look is going to be the first camera shot of her lip syncing so it needs to be dynamic and bold. I think that KARMA should be wearing heavy makeup i.e. dark eyes, dark lips and hair tied up. The first lyric is 'feel the calm before the storm', symbolising a sense of danger.

LOCATION 3: STUDIO/FIELD

The third look will be the section in which she sings the verse 'let me go'. My group and I have already decided to use this verse as an opportunity for the audience to see her majestic yet feminine side. The costume will be dark but elegant, so the makeup must contrast well with this.

These are all of the makeup looks that will be needed for the music video. I will narrow it down and make a moodboard with both costume and makeup.

Preliminary Lyric Video

I decided to create a 'lyric' music video for the selected song, Wildfire, in order to explore my editing skills. I am currently using iMovie, which is a software that I am very capable of editing with.

Because the software is so basic, I do not think I am going to continue using this. There is another software called Premiere Pro, which is what my team and I want to use for our actual music video. So, instead of using this software, I am going to start using Premiere Pro instead.
